The “Clean Punjab Program” in Shujabad has completely failed as sewer water from the main drainage system has flooded the streets near the Deputy District Education Office in Zakariya Town. According to locals, the stagnant dirty water has created severe difficulties for pedestrians, students, and commuters. Vehicles splashing contaminated water have worsened the situation, raising serious health concerns about possible malaria and dengue outbreaks. Residents claim that despite repeated complaints to the Municipal Committee and Waste Management Company, no action has been taken. Officials continue to shift responsibility, stating the issue falls under WASA’s jurisdiction. Citizens have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Deputy Commissioner Multan to take immediate notice and resolve the problem to provide relief to the residents.
